8 Boys, 8 Names, 8 Lives...

Dedicated to the eight bochurim
of the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva in Yerushalayim.

For the split second
It took to take their lives
Let “life as usual stop”.
Let tongues uttering
Their normal transactions cease.
Let no foot hurry its accustomed
Pleasure of the streets.
Let every occupied moving thing
Arrest its breath of life.
Let halt the cherished dove its flight.

And when life resumes
Let inconsolable voices
Join the Watchmen on the Walls
Who never let Him rest – day or night –
Until He hastens
The time of almond blossoms
Untainted with blood.
